These stories ran in the feature section of
Stars&Stripes on April 16, 2000.
Jan Childs, a reporter in the Okinawa S&S
bureau had seen the Clark Scrapbook
and some of the others devoted to Clark. She
had also talked to some people who were
stationed there. The reverence Air Force and
Navy folks expressed for their former bases got
her interested. In addition to the interviews
she visited the former bases, then produced this series.
